Monzilla Media recently revamped Perishable Press with a stunning new design.

Perishable Press is a well-established web-design and development blog focusing on quality content and in-depth tutorials. The focus is on information, optimization, and easy navigation. For the new design, Perishable Press wanted to break away from the previous dark, minimal theme and embrace an exciting, full-featured user-interface.

To keep the site’s plethora of content well-organized and easily accessible, a multi-paneled sidebar is used to display various types of content clearly and efficiently. Each of the main sidebar navigational panels employs JavaScript to provide multiple nested panels of information that smoothly slide into place at the click of a button. This slide-viewer functionality enables the sidebar to provide a far greater amount of information in a stylish, streamlined fashion.

Other site features include complete integration of both Twitter and Tumblr micro-blogging services directly into the user interface. Both Twitter updates and the most recent five Tumblr entries are pulled into the site and displayed in their respective panel sidebars.

With too many other functional and aesthetic features to mention here, suffice it to say that the redesign was a huge success, with many Perishable Press readers contributing screenshots of the design on their various platforms and browsers. Overall, a great design that looks excellent on virtually any modern browser.

The new Quintessential Perishable Press theme is built upon WordPress, with Monzilla Media services including the following:

  • Dynamic theme design, development, and testing
  • Site security measures and search-engine optimization
  • Extensive attention to detail, including clean source-code output
  • Implementation of Web Standards using PHP, XHTML, and CSS
  • Implementation of degradable, unobtrusive JavaScript
  • Integration of Twitter posts and Tumblr feed
  • Custom graphic design for site imagery
  • Performance optimization measures
  • Cross-browser compatibility testing
