Monzilla Media recently designed a new theme for Perishable Press.

Perishable Press is a well-established web-design and development blog focusing on quality content and in-depth tutorials. The focus is on information, optimization, and easy navigation. For the new design, Perishable Press wanted to break away from all of the current design trends, JavaScript tricks, and bloated interfaces — something serious, as “down to business” as it gets.

With this in mind, Monzilla Media stepped up with a crisp, minimalist design by stripping away all unnecessary content and consolidating all of the navigation and informational links into a oversize footer at the bottom of each page. Perishable Press houses an enormous collection of articles, examples, code, and other information, so we included plenty of meta navigation, sitemaps, and archive pages. Further, the comment section for each post is sleek and simple, facilitating the oft-extensive dialogue happening throughout the site. Other features include toggling alternate high-contrast styles, deluxe security measures, and multiple custom plugins. Top it off with a dual-purpose black/white-themed “Perishable Press” sun logo (shown above), and you’re good to go.

The new Perishable Press theme is built upon WordPress, with Monzilla Media services including the following:

  • Dynamic theme design, development, and testing
  • Site security measures and search-engine optimization
  • Extensive attention to detail, including clean source-code output
  • Implementation of Web Standards using PHP, XHTML, and CSS
  • Custom graphic design for site imagery
